Description
I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL MAKE UP ARTIST.
THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS.
Okay, so this isn't really a step-by-stepp tutorial of HOW to make gore-like gashes and slashes in your skin for halloween. This is just an example of what materials I used, and how I did it so you can see the possible outcome.
So, if I can make it look this cool first time around, then I'm sure you'll have no problem.
These gorey wounds were made using every-day household items.
1) Gelatin
2) Glycerol
3) Water
I mixed 2 x tablespoons of each one before microwaving for 20 seconds. Now, this compound is air-cooled so you have to work rather quickly.
Lather the gooey texture whilst still warm onto your chosen skin-area. The arm is the easiest. I had a real hard time with the neck.
Now, before it sets into a thick jelly-like paste, you need to slice through the goo with a knife, or scissors. Be careful not to cut yourself! Pull on the flappy bits so they dangle a little
Next, I painted inside the gash with red, black and yellow face paints, which you can buy at any dollar-shop. I used a sponge to dab a bit of red and yellow around the wounds to make them look infected.
Next, I squeezed a few drops of food colouring into the gash, and let it ooze down my skin for a realistic dripping effect. Be careful, food colouring STAINS your skin. So make sure you don't have to work the next day.
And that's pretty much it.
I also have ANOTHER method for making wounds using ONLY CRAFT GLUE and FACE PAINTS. Here's how to do it:
1) Paste some craft glue onto your skin.
2) Dry with hair-dryer
3) Repeat steps 1 & 2 until you have 5 layers of dry glue on the same area.
4) Cut into the glue. It should have dried as a thick film over your skin.
5) Paint inside the gash you cut!
6) Voila!
Try these methods out. I'd love to see your work!
